My Rescues
Pretty much all of my rescues stay.   This is because once they get to me, they've already been handed around or been through rough times, and I feel they've found me for a reason.   They stay with me because I know then that they will always have everything they need, and these guys get the exact same treatment as my longhairs and my pets, perhaps even a little bit more grass time, a few extra veggies etc when they first arrive to get them to where they should be physically.
I HAVE managed to bring myself to rehome two young sows, and one of those went to my Mum so I still get to see her!   If a sow comes in pregnant then I will tend to rehome her litter once they're old enough too.   Any babies that stay will be placed on my pet pages.
So far, most of the pigs that have come in have been sows.   I've had three boars from various places and two of those turned out to be sows! (Rose and Freya)
Harriet came to me pregnant as a young pig in August 2006 with Jasmine and Tia, both now passed away.   I kept her daughter and called her Roslyn.   Harriet now has grand-daughters - Faith and Lara, and grandson Rodney
Derek is insane.   There is no other way to describe him.   He throws himself around his cage and tries to escape at every opportunity.   Came to me in September 2006 with Honey, his daughter as well as two other daughters and an older sow, Cookie.   Cookie wasn't with me for long and I never got a nice photo of her as she never made it to full health before I lost her
Honey is Derek's daughter, arrived in September 2006 with her two sisters.   One of those sisters was homed to my Mum so I still see her regularly.   Honey is a quiet gentle girl who would prefer I "don't get too close, thank you very much!"   but she'll eat from my hand on a brave day and gets on really well in her group of 6
RIP Puggy xx
Rose (left) and Freya - two lovely girls who came to me in October 2006 as they were no longer wanted.   I did attempt to rehome them.   I had several emails and a couple of phone calls but I just couldn't let them go.   So they are now permanent residents.   They were about 6 months old when they arrived.   They were unwanted family pets.   The impression I got was that they were the last of a much larger group and had been born with the people who gave them to me.
Neither are particularly "people-friendly" until there's food to be had, when they both hang out the door of their hutch to see who gets it first!
These are Pug (top) and Fuzz.   They arrived in Feb 2007.   Pug is a DEW and is named after a car (Peugeot).   She is very sweet and will sit in the cage happily while I stroke her and pick her up.   The Texel is Fuzz.   She is beautiful and so big!   She had had a serious haircut before she arrived but its grown quite fast and is now looking amazing as you can see in the pics.
They were 3 years old when they arrived and absolutely adore each other.   They will be staying here with me as permanent residents.
Nina was very young when she arrived, probably about four months judging by her size.   She had two self black babies about 8 weeks after she arrived.   This pic taken the day she arrived.   She's much bigger now and a really healthy looking girl.   She came to me with Jess who I lost late 2008
Cody came to me with Dixie and Red but had to be moved away from the group due to an attitude problem!   She kept chasing pregnant Red around so she was put in with another group and is getting on great now that Rose has put her in her place!
This sweetie is called Dixie.   She arrived in April 2007.   She is really lovely and comes to the bars for a tickle which was a nice surprise when I first got her.   Even if she's in the run, she'll squeak if I walk past which is soooo sweet.   She had 6 babies nearly 10 weeks after she arrived, 4 of those lived.   "Big Dixie" pic taken at about 7 weeks pregnant and "Nose" pic taken 30th June 07
